About Tile Fall
Tile Fall is a free 3D last-one-standing party game. Up to eight chunky little runners start on the top of four stacked floors made of hexagon tiles. Every tile you touch shakes and drops away a moment later, so the floor behind you is always disappearing. Fall through a hole and you land on the floor below; fall off the bottom floor and you are out. The last runner standing wins the round, and the first to win two rounds takes the match. Play against bots on your own, or online with friends.
Also called: floor is falling game, last one standing game, hexagon fall game, party game online.
How to play Tile Fall
- Choose how hard the bots are (Easy, Normal or Hard) and press Play. Your runner has a yellow ring at its feet.
- On a computer, run with WASD or the arrow keys and jump with Space. On a phone, drag the stick on the left to run and tap the jump button on the right. A gamepad works too.
- Keep moving. The tile under your feet starts to shake the moment you step on it and drops away about three quarters of a second later.
- Head for open ground where nobody has walked yet. Jump to clear a hole one tile wide.
- If you fall through a hole you land on the floor below and carry on. The meter in the top corner shows how many floors you have left.
- Fall off the bottom floor and you are out for the round; the camera follows someone who is still in. The last runner standing wins the round, and two round wins take the match.
Rules
- There are four floors, stacked five metres apart, each a hexagon of 169 hexagonal tiles.
- A tile starts crumbling when a runner stands on it, and is gone 0.75 seconds later. A runner in the air does not touch the tiles below until it lands.
- A runner whose tile disappears, or who walks into a hole or off the edge, falls and lands on the first solid tile below. There is no floor under the bottom one.
- You can jump from the ground, or just after running off an edge. A jump clears a gap of about one tile.
- Runners bump each other out of the way, so you can nudge someone towards a hole.
- After 75 seconds the untouched tiles start crumbling by themselves, faster and faster, so every round ends.
- Each round gives 10 points for every runner you outlast and 30 for winning it. The match goes to the first runner with two round wins; if several rounds end with nobody standing, the match stops after five rounds and the most round wins (then points) takes it.
- Against bots, your match counts on the weekly leaderboard: the points from the first three rounds, with any rounds you didn't need to play counted as wins, doubled against normal bots and tripled against hard ones. The server plays your match again from your moves to check it.
Tile Fall tips and strategy
- Don't stand still. Even a short pause drops you through the floor. Walk in long, smooth lines across fresh tiles.
- Stay away from the crowd. Every runner eats tiles. Open ground with nobody on it lasts longest.
- Plan a route, not a step. Sweep across a floor in rows, like mowing a lawn, rather than zig-zagging, so you don't box yourself in with holes.
- Save the middle of the floor for later. The edges are risky because a wrong step takes you off the arena entirely.
- When you drop to a lower floor, steer while you fall so you land on untouched tiles, ideally far from where others are falling.
- A jump is your escape hatch: when you're cornered by holes, look for a tile on the far side of a single gap.
- Near the end, a gentle bump can send a rival through a hole. It works on you too, so give them room.
Tile Fall questions
How long is a round?
Usually 30 seconds to a minute. Rounds with careful runners last longer, but after 75 seconds the untouched tiles start falling by themselves, so no round goes on for ever.
What are the bots like?
Easy bots look only a step or two ahead and rarely jump, so they make plenty of mistakes. Normal bots search the floor for open ground and avoid each other. Hard bots plan routes, jump single holes and are tough to outlast.
Can I play Tile Fall with friends?
Yes. Open the Online tab and choose Make a room to get an invite link, a six-character code and a QR code. In the lobby everyone gets a seat card and a Ready button, and the host chooses whether bots fill the empty spots and presses Start. Quick play puts you in a public room with whoever is around, with bots making up eight runners.
What are the awards at the end of an online match?
Last One Standing goes to the match winner, Most Tiles Broken to whoever crumbled the most tiles, Longest Fall to the runner who dropped the most floors in one go, Bunny Hopper to the keenest jumper and Survivor to whoever spent the most time on the floors across all the rounds.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. You get an on-screen stick and a jump button, the page doesn't scroll while you play, and the arena is drawn with only a handful of instanced meshes so it runs smoothly on phones.
Why did I fall when I was standing on a tile?
Because you were standing on it. Every tile you touch gives way after three quarters of a second, including the one you start on, so keep moving onto fresh tiles.
Is Tile Fall free to play?
Yes. Tile Fall on Kultured Arcade is completely free: no download, no account and nothing to buy. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
Do I need to download Tile Fall?
No. It opens instantly in your browser and saves your progress on your device, so there is nothing to install and no sign-up.
